Issues relating to environmental transition (sustainable farming, recycling, environmental impacts) are now leading to the development of biodegradable crop-protection solutions. This biodegradability should allow the natural decomposition of the used organic product in the biological environment under favourable conditions (temperature, humidity, light, oxygen, etc.).

In order to do its part in this transition, MDB Texinov® is working in partnership with the company GéoChanvre to propose 100% plant-based mulching solutions made from hemp. Mulching involves applying a protective layer to mitigate the effects on the soil of excessively harsh climate conditions. This reduces the need to use weedkiller, offers the soil thermal protection and maintains a good level of humidity, helping crops to grow.

The products Herbi’chanvre and Longprotect, designed respectively for market gardening and perennial crops, are certified by Ecocert. They have been the object of test campaigns in horticultural stations as part of the Biopad project, backed by ADEME, the French Agency for the Environment and Energy Management.

As part of its eco-friendly development approach, MDB Texinov® offers its customers a compostable version Filbio® PLA. This more resistant and slightly more heavyweight product illustrates the company’s commitment to a transition economy in response to societal and environmental expectations.
